The Client:
Laura is a graphic designer and the owner of Sugar Grenade Designs, a design and lifestyle brand. She is also the co-founder and co-owner of Bea + Elle, a graphic and web design company.
The Problem:
An experienced-designer overwhelmed by imposter syndrome and internal battles.
Twelve years after starting her graphic design business and blog, Sugar Grenade, Laura felt stagnant and desperate.
Despite a degree in graphic design, years of experience, and a supportive community behind her business, Laura was convinced she couldn’t be successful.
When she came up with product ideas to launch, doubting voices in her mind always spoke out. No one is going to buy this. You’re not as good as you could be. There are other people that are better. Nobody is going to give you money for this.
“And those thoughts would stop me,” Laura said. “The energy would be there to do it one moment and then gone.”
Feeling stuck in her business was just one part of what Laura felt. Around that time, she and her husband decided to leave their lifelong church, so her community began to shift. Her lifelong battle with anxiety and depression was seeping in, and she was running out of options.
“I did the courses with influencer type coaches,” she said. “And they were always so shallow, wishy-washy, and there was no depth. It felt like they were giving me clues, but nothing more than that, so I couldn’t make things happen.”
Laura knew if she didn’t make a change, her business would remain stagnant, or even dwindle out.
The Solution:
A committed coach with interdisciplinary expertise on combining reality and identity to create alignment and manifest in business
Morgana’s methods and techniques combine her academic research with science and sourced materials to help her clients fall in love with their businesses, serve their ideal clients, raise prices and get booked.
To address Laura’s fears of failure and lack of energy to implement new ideas, Morgana wanted Laura to break out of the familiarity of her current home and physical space so she could tap into the parts of her identity that would help shape her future self. She did this through a guided meditation where Laura could meet and talk to her future self.
The meditation was designed to connect Laura with the identities inside her that were normally drowned out. Laura was skeptical, thinking her future held unhappiness and failure, but Morgana encouraged her to try it anyway.
Laura was surprised to find her future self happy, calm, and thriving in her business.
“It was my dream life, and that is the whole point of everything Morgana does,” Laura said. “She makes you realize you can achieve it. It was one of the most profound experiences of my life.”
Next, Morgana wanted to help Laura deconstruct her worldview and intentionally create a worldview with a new purpose.
Morgana drew from her extensive research on the Scottish witchcraft trials – one of Morgana’s key areas of academic research and expertise and part of Morgana and Laura’s native Scottish culture – to show Laura how her thoughts, mindsets, and even the material world around her were structured.
Morgana used the systems that supported the witchcraft trials to illuminate how people construct their reality based on their choices and interpretations and how shedding light on those implicit biases allows people to see their worldview in a new way.
“She explained why these things happened, the very predictable behavior that comes with a witch trial, and she ties it in with ways to do business,” Laura said. “A lot of that message is about how to be authentic and recognize the good in other people and how it benefits us.”
Finally, Morgana wanted to give Laura ways to ground herself in her new beliefs using rituals and faith practices – often taking the form of crystals or oracle cards.
“She does talk about fairies and magic, crystals and things like that,” Laura said. “And I was always like, ‘Yeah, I don’t know about this.’ But I found there is always a lesson to be learned, and I can appreciate the symbolism of this. You just take from it what you feel and use that.”
After months of one-on-one work and group coaching, things began to change.
The Results:
Just a few months after working with Morgana, Laura began to feel better.
“I can honestly say that since working with Morgana, my anxiety is way down,” Laura said. “I sleep better at night, and, in general, I feel happier.”
It wasn’t long before others started to notice, too. Every month, she and a group of friends meet for a girls night, and three months after working with Morgana, they noticed a change in Laura.
“One of them said, ‘What’s going on with you?’” Laura said. “I was like, ‘What?’ And they said, ‘Who lit this fire under you? How are you so motivated all of a sudden? How are you doing what you’re doing?’”
Another friend that noticed a change was Brooke, a web designer. She was so inspired by Laura’s transformation that she began working with Morgana and soon started Bea + Elle with Laura.
In addition to her inner growth, confidence, and healing, Laura’s business and income took off.
Every February, she sells Galentine’s Day postcards. After just a few months working with Morgana, Laura sold thousands more postcards than the previous year, making six times more and surpassing her yearly Etsy income.
She and Brooke gained confidence and clarity working with Morgana and felt brave enough to invest in their business and show up to serve clients they love working with.
“I don’t think Morgana is FDA approved, but I feel like she’s like a drug,” Laura laughed. “And I would definitely regret not taking the opportunity to work with her even for just a little while.”
