Do you ever sit down to create content and feel like you have nothing to say? The answer to fixing it isn’t what you think

If yes, here’s how to solve that problem and why the answer isn’t what you think

 

If you’re anything like the hundreds of women I coach every year, the chances are that feeling blocked about what to write makes you feel like an imposter, because surely someone with real expertise would know what to say… right? 

Well, actually no. You can be an incredibly well qualified expert and still easily feel like you have nothing to say. 

Content creation has very little to do with how much you know about your niche (that’s why great coaches and copywriters can help you create brilliant content without being experts in your field). 

What it has everything to do with, is how well you know yourself. How well you love yourself. How well you trust yourself. 

When you haven’t done the inner work to heal your stories and to understand exactly how valuable they are, to whom, when and where, you’ll struggle to come up with content. 

Even if you have a pack of 365 ready-made prompts you invested in last year

Even if you took a course about how to come up with 5 great live videos a week

Even if you were an incredible writer – maybe even a professional writer – in a past career 

The thing is, great content isn’t just what you do. It’s how you do it, why you do it and who you are. It doesn’t just come from the things you’ve studied. It comes from your very way of being in the world. 

It comes from your exact blend of all that you are. 

 

Which brings us onto another thing while we are at it… you’re creating content because you want to make money. Which means you have to believe that YOU are worthy of receiving money and that’s not just about ‘what you do.’ Confidence in your results and prices comes from being 100% authentically you, because that’s the place where you are standing owning all that you are. Most of the clients who come to me are struggling with their offer and pricing too, not just their content; they’re all connected just like your heart, and lungs, and brain. 

They tend to believe another strategy will help fix any problem in our society, because we’re conditioned from childhood into a common set of basic assumptions like:

  • There’s a correct way to do things;
  • We have to do it the correct way, in order to “pass”;
  • Somebody else is the knowledge gatekeeper of the correct way, and we can learn it from them; and
  • The most valuable and valid things to do are STEM originated (science, technology, engineering and maths).

The result. You sign up for Just One More Course. Then maybe a coaching container. Then a coach who can help you create a great package. How about an ads campaign, to help pre-sell people? 

And yet, even after all of that, the chances are high you’re still not feeling good about any of it? Not ‘joy, freedom and ease’ good. 

Here’s a dangerous pattern that I see people get stuck in, in the online space:

 

  • You’re taught you need to be perpetually posting on social media. By people who market and sell that way (very often services about marketing and selling every day on social media);
  • The people you buy from aren’t actually serving clients deeply enough to co-create amazing results (because they are more interested in getting the next sale, than they are about the clients who are actually in their service);
  • This means you can’t create amazing results either;
  • So you don’t have people making powerful referrals for you regularly enough to book out all your services;
  • So you assume the answer must be to post EVEN MORE social media content;
  • This means always talking to a new audience, rather than creating beautiful collaborations and opportunities with the amazing people around you;
  • Therefore needing more and more new audience, which means more and more new content and the content isn’t even that effective, because…;
  • If you’re honest, your energy is way out of alignment at this point. You don’t want to post 15 times a week on three different platforms. You don’t want to contort mindset gymnastics like the whole yucky practice of “overcoming objections” etc to bring anyone into you service; and
  • You just want results: impact and income with joy, freedom and ease, by being YOU.

If you don’t take the time to do the inner work and find out who you really, it’s hard to know how you feel about things.

 

What really matters to you.  What you’re really interested in. What you’re really good at and that makes creating content hard. On the other hand, when you do the work and release all that comes from culturally conditioned expectations, wounds and fears, suddenly creativity doesn’t seem so daunting. 

  • You can play big, and challenge others to think new thoughts;
  • You can see and own your genius; and
  • You stop catering to the lowest common message out there (where there is the highest competition) and start sharing unique work that immediately differentiates you from others.

As a scholar with a phd on how our identities and realities are co-created though our engagements with the world, there is a great deal I can do (and very rapidly) to help someone with a proven business (has made sales before offering what they think they want to offer) to step into a whole new level of success. These are some of the steps we take together to go from writer’s block to courageous content creator

  • We explore together who you really are and what you really want, using my proven methodology for working with all the different voices that compete for attention inside you, to help you recognise what you really want to talk about;
  • We work on releasing old wounds you probably didn’t even know are there, and growing up the parts of you that were left behind in childhood, like the “too loud” voice, the “too much” energy, the “NO!” etc, so that you can bring strength back to your voice;
  • We excavate and curate your forgotten skills and stories so that you can draw strength, insight and inspiration from them;
  • We focus on integrity (structural, rather than “moral”) and finding your true genius, to support you through staying whole in a world that can fee dog-eat-dog and bringing your sense of safety back inside yourself, where it belongs so that you can be courageous in the stories you tell;
  • From there we work together to help you create more of the feelings that underpin abundance in your life, right where you are now, including joy, freedom and ease, so that when you write, you’re moving towards what you want to experience more of, not fixated on what’s “not working”;
  • Using everything we’ve learned, we make body-consciousness informed changes to your business – especially your offer and message – that will immediately relieve imposter syndrome and bring you greater feelings of abundance, and guide you towards rapid shifts in your financial reality; and
  • At the same time we’ll work together to create profound shifts in your money mindset in ways that value others and you to the highest level, so that you can have empowered conversations about the value of your work.

And… There’s something I have to get off my chest. 

 

I don’t post every day. 

There, I said it. 

My business can do multiple 6 figures, without me posting every day and so can yours. 

Because it’s not posting every day that creates revenue. It’s conversations and while posting might look like a conversation and, it may even feel like a conversation, 99% of what most people are posting really isn’t a conversation, because there is no presence of a true self and a soul mate client. 

Great content comes from a place of intense listening. Of hearing what isn’t said. Or seeing what isn’t obvious on the surface. 

So let go of “I should post…” or “I need to post…” or worse still, the expectation that how MUCH you show up on social media is directly related to clients. 

I’m here to tell you that you CAN have impact and income with joy, freedom and ease, by being YOU. No more complicated strategies or sleazy sales tactics you can’t bear. 

It’s not “how much” you show up. It’s not “how” you show up (lives/long form posts/gifs/emailing a list). It’s WHO you show up as, and WHO you show up for.
